- is a small,
family owned establishment, located at
Monticello, Iowa, in North East Central Iowa.
Even though the stable is located within the city
limits, we have a semi rural setting. There are
twenty two acres of pasture, with a creek running
though the center of it. We have an eleven stall
stable with several accompanying paddocks. We
enjoy a wilderness setting where we often see
deer, fox, eagles, geese, ducks and other wild
life. On a summer evening it is a beautiful,
pastoral setting to enjoy.
-
- We
have been breeding Saddlebred and Saddle Type
Pinto horses for over twenty years. When the
children became 4-H age, horses seemed to be the
best large animal projects for them. We housed
them in a rented stable at the local fairgrounds
to begin with. We then moved to a rented barn in
the country, before buying our current
location.
-
- Over
the years we have developed and shown several
saddle type national Pinto halter and performance
champions, PtHA Horse of the Year in several
categories, and several PtHA register of Merit
Champions.
- Two of
our breeding stallions earned the coveted Legion
of Merit award.
It is our
goal to breed Pinto/Saddlebred horses that are quality
individuals. Over the years we have endeavored to breed
show and breeding stock that will stand the test in the
show ring and on the breeding farm.
We have
been fortunate to have stood some outstanding individual
breeding stallions. Among them have been Lady's Jayhawk (PtHA), Creation's Supremium (ASHA/PtHA), Creation's Royal
Commander (ASHA/PtHA) and Bonnie Novel Royal
Fox
(ASHA/PtHA). We are pleased to follow these sires with , a son of Bold Alvin by Valley View Supreme. We are especially
proud of this sire as he is a home raised
individual. will continue his
show career in 2007. Watch for him this summer.
We recently
added to our breeding program the black/bay ASHA
stallion,
ARA Sultan's Great Victory. He will be bred to our pinto
mares next spring. Another stallion addition is the
ASPC/PtHA pony stallion, Echo's
High Interest S.R.
- There
are a number of bred
Saddlebred/Pinto stallions standing in this
country and Canada. Several of the fillies bred
here have become the dams of stallions whose
services are being offered to the public. We have
been pleased to know that individuals bred at are doing
so well.
- We
have a small band of brood mares, which we
believe are capable of producing top breeding and
show horses that can compete in both Saddlebred
and Pinto arenas. Many of them carry old
mid-western and old saddlebred blood lines in
their pedigrees. Please see the foals expected nect year.
-
- We
were not active in showing or breeding for the
several years. However, I have now retired from
my professional career, and have returning to the
show ring and the breeding of Pinto/Saddlebreds.
My married daughter, Corlyn Longer-Schreck has
made the commitment to be the show rider for her
dad. We look forward to renewing old friendships
and making new friends!
- So,
the coffee pot is on. Come visit us, and
share a cup of coffee as we talk horse!
